Paisley High Church
In June 1754 the Paisley High Church was opened for worship. By 1771, the steeple was complete, both designed by Bailie John Whyte.

A great bell weighing almost 10cwts was installed in 1776. The Town Council decreed that "The Great Bell" could not ring without their permission, this led to litigation, which the Church won. The great bell finally cracked in 1871.

Local legend says that, the symbols of a handkerchief, a pair of glasses and a heart, marks the spot where a stonemason fell while working on the spire.
