Original on display at The Scottish Parliment

An artwork depicting two of Paisley's historic landmarks has been displayed in the Scottish Parliament by the local MSP, George Adam.  The painting was created by local artist Garry Byars who runs the Sunshine Gallery in the Paisley Centre.  Garry set up the gallery in December of 2009 in order to showcase local amateur artists and photographers.  For each piece that Garry is able to sell a small percentage covers Garry's running costs, the rest goes to the artist or community group that created the artworks.

Speaking on Garry's painting, George said:

'Garry is an inspirational character, working with community groups and individual artists not only to create artworks, but to develop positive attitudes and a sense of achievement for those involved.  He should be commended for all the work that he does, spreading the creative and therapeutic aspects of developing art.  I have a great deal of respect for him.
